Global NCAP: 2012 Annual Meeting to be held in Malaysia
The 2012 Annual Meeting of the Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP) will be held in Malaysia from 23rd to 24th of May. The event will be combined with a seminar on Vehicle Safety in the UN Decade of Action and be part of the South East Asian 2012 Automotive Safety Week. Global NCAP is also pleased to announce that His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, Patron of the Commission for Global Road Safety will be the Guest of Honour and will present Global NCAP’s inaugural Safety Awards.
A special focus of the 2012 Annual Meeting will be consumer attitudes to vehicle safety and will include a roundtable information exchange from NCAPs worldwide. The event will also feature the launch of the MIROS PC3 Crash Lab launch and the ASEAN NCAP crash test programme, together with vehicle ‘eSafety’ demonstrations featuring Electronic Stability Control and Anti-Lock Brakes in motorbikes.
Participants in the Annual Meeting will include:
Max Mosley (Chairman, Global NCAP), Prof Dr. Wong Shaw Voon (Director General, MIROS), HH Tunku Mudzaffar Tunku Mustapha (Chairman, Automobile Association of Malaysia); Ron Medford (Deputy Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration); Claes Tingvall (Director of Traffic Safety at the Swedish Transport Administration), Adrian Lund (President, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), Lauchlan McIntosh (Chairman, Australasian NCAP), David Ward (Director General, FIA Foundation), Dr Michiel van Ratingen (Secretary General, Euro NCAP), Nani Rodriguez (Executive Secretary, Latin NCAP), and Guido Adriaenssens (CEO, International Consumer Research and Testing).
The venue for the Annual Meeting will be the Melaka International Trade Centre in Melaka, an ancient city and world heritage site which is about 1.5 hours from Malaysia’s capital city Kuala Lumpur. An online registration system for meeting participants including hotel booking information will be available from 15 February 2012.
