Global NCAP launches Forum for Safer Mobility

Forum for Safer Mobility

Global NCAP is proud to be launching a new international event platform that will bridge the public and private sector to map the way forward for safe, sustainable mobility.

For more than a decade, Global NCAP has relentlessly focused on improving new car safety through testing and advocacy, especially in emerging economies. That effort has resulted in a series of milestones including more than 100 safety assessments and consistent institutional recognition as the UN works towards its target of halving global road deaths and serious injuries by 2030.

The Forum for Safer Mobility now aims to bring that impact to the wider mobility ecosystem. As new technologies redefine transport systems as we know them, consumers are at an inflection point with the mobility choices they make and, whatever that choice, vehicle safety must retain its first and foremost priority.

Global NCAP’s Forum will therefore convene international policymakers, regulators, industry experts, academics and civil society to tackle the most pressing challenges and concerns as mobility systems continue to rapidly evolve.

From robotaxis that are already carrying passengers in parts of the world to widely deployed ADAS and connected technologies, the Forum is intended to provide the global venue for discussion on how safety policy, regulation and industry action must adapt.

Forum events are already in the pipeline. Democratising vehicle safety will be tackled in Cape Town, South Africa. Motorcycle safety will be addressed in Delhi, India, and the road safety implications of robotaxis will be discussed in London, the UK.

Mobility systems are approaching a once-in-a-generation transformation. As the UN races towards its global goal of halving road deaths and serious injuries by 2030, the need to place safety at the centre of this technological revolution has never been more urgent.
