Empowering car buyers with Mandatory Safety Labelling
A mandatory safety label on a new vehicle, complete with its NCAP rating, could empower buyers to choose the safest vehicle.
Similar schemes have existed for decades in numerous other industries and Global NCAP together with Latin NCAP has campaigned throughout 2025 to mandate safety labelling for new vehicles.
Our report, Vehicle Safety Rating Labelling Schemes for Consumers, was presented earlier this year to Chilean Transport Minister and ITF President Juan Carlos Munoz.
Further highlights from our campaign include presentations across the world to governments and multi-stakeholders, press events throughout Latin America and a film highlighting how the adoption of vehicle safety labels can become a powerful tool in saving lives on our roads.
NCAP programmes globally are helping to democratise vehicle safety and we will continue to advocate for the urgent introduction of mandatory safety labelling for all new vehicles.
